Prospero Girardi, the co-founder of Hitec Lift Trucks alongside Andy Selbie, has won a prestigious lifetime achievement award at the recent Forklift Truck Association Awards for Excellence ceremony. This was the 26th annual event and the first to be held completely online having been twice postponed due to the pandemic.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises those individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their business and the wider industry over an extended period of time. Only a select group have ever received this award, which is testament to the positive legacy of Prospero’s hard work, dedication, and innovation during his 33 years in charge of Hitec.
Pros has dedicated his working life to the growth and development of the Hitec business and during that time he helped hundreds of local businesses with equipment and engineering support when they needed it most. This vital work helped build a reputation for Hitec, which it continues to uphold, as a trusted local supplier that always puts the customer first.
Pros was also at the helm during the acquisition of Hitec by Briggs Equipment, which has enabled the business to go from strength to strength since the deal was completed in 2018.
Mike Vaughan, Hitec Lift Trucks General Manager, commented: “There could no one more deserving of this award than Pros. He has played an instrumental part in the foundation and sustained growth of Hitec Lift Trucks and the values that he installed in the company from day one, are still prevalent right throughout our business.
“After retiring from Hitec in 2020 following over 30 years of service, Prospero remains a fantastic ambassador for the materials handling industry and his experience and knowledge of the sector is second to none. Pros remains involved in the business behind the scenes and it’s invaluable for myself and our team to be able to call on his expertise.
“Everyone at Hitec would like to congratulate Pros on this superb achievement and we hope Pros is enjoying his retirement!”

Hitec Lift Trucks has completed the delivery of a new fleet of Hyster counterbalance forklifts to its long term customer Freefoam. The new trucks arrived at the Northampton site in April 2021 and have replaced an existing fleet of competitor machines, which were unable to perform to the required intensity and demands.
Even though the trucks have only been in place for a short while, they are having an instant impact of productivity and efficiency, with production up by 25% since installation. The machines are specifically designed to operate in high intensity industrial environments and will support the growth and development of Freefoam’s business moving forward.
Paul Stiff, Hitec Lift Trucks’ Regional Business Development Manager, commented: “We are delighted to have completed this delivery of new trucks to Freefoam. We have worked closely with them previously on different projects and we’re proud to have been chosen to supply these latest additions to their equipment fleet.
“The trucks are all fitted with a range of safety features and will help improve on-site efficiency, whilst also providing the forklift drivers with a much more comfortable experience during operation.
“We’re looking forward to supporting Freefoam moving forward and we’ll be working closely with their team to ensure they are getting the most out of our their new equipment.”
Establishing strong partnerships with local businesses throughout the East of England has long been the Hitec Lift Trucks approach. Robinson Manufacturing Limited, who have a site in Wellingborough, also believe in the concept of ‘choosing local’ and recently took delivery of 3 new Combilift side-loader forklifts from Hitec to supplement their existing fleet.
The new machines are specifically designed for businesses that require robust and fast operation when moving products across sites, which was a key requirement identified during the evaluation process. Hitec were able to successfully demonstrate how the four-wheeled, two directional configuration of the equipment would help deliver a solution that simultaneously improved efficiency, productivity and safety.
The machines were delivered in December 2020 and the feedback from the operators has been extremely positive, with ease of use and the reliability of the machines specifically mentioned.
Paul Stiff, Hitec’s Regional Account Manager, commented: “Robinson Manufacturing Limited are very closely aligned with our own values of trusting and investing in local businesses and we’re delighted to have completed this delivery to their Wellingborough site. The Combilift machines are extremely popular with many customers as they offer a wide range of capabilities and excellent performance and it’s the perfect choice to match the customer’s requirements.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with them moving forward to ensure that they continue to get the most out of their equipment. The feedback we’ve had so far from the operators regarding the performance and reliability of the new machines has been excellent and despite only being on site for a few months, they are already proving their worth.”
Matt Davies, Head of QESH, Robinson Manufacturing Limited, said: “I have known Paul Stiff for many years. He has always been helpful and supportive when advising on anything to do with lifting plant machinery, helping RML make the right decisions on the equipment needed to maintain our production needs.”
If your business is looking for industrial equipment from a trusted local supplier, then all you need to do is ‘Ask Hitec’ and we’ll take care of the rest.
Hitec Lift Trucks has completed the delivery of a new articulated Flexi truck to the English Heritage site, Wrest Park in Bedfordshire.
The machine will be used mainly to help the Collections team at Wrest Park safely store and transport a wide range of artefacts and delicate items across their site, which is gearing up for a busy summer period following the anticipated relaxation of COVID restrictions.
Rachel Kitcherside, Collections Manager, Wrest Park, commented: “We initially contacted Hitec as we were looking to replace our existing truck as it was becoming unsuitable for our requirements. Ben and the Hitec team responded promptly and identified the appropriate solution for us, which was the Flexi truck.
“The operation of the Flexi is extremely smooth, which is very important for us as its main function is to transport delicate artefacts and other fragile items. We have been extremely pleased with the machine and it’s having a really positive effect on our business. I’d like to thank Ben and Hitec for their hard work in specifying a high quality product that ticks every box and has fitted seamlessly into our operations.”
Ben Stiff, Regional Account Manager, Hitec Lift Trucks, commented: “We are delighted to have completed this delivery to the iconic Wrest Park site. Our site evaluation indicated that the Flexi was the ideal choice. Given the nature of the work that’s carried out at Wrest Park, any equipment that we supplied had to be able to perform in a very narrow aisle (VNA) environment, whilst also providing a smooth and even ride.
“The Flexi itself is exceptional at performing in VNA areas and is already doing everything expected of it. We looking forward to helping the team at English Heritage with anything else they may need in the future.”

At Hitec Lift Trucks, we understand that the Coronavirus pandemic has created new challenges for businesses. One of those, is the increase in demand for cleaning.
Many small and medium sized businesses, will need to take on additional measures to help keep their customers, employees and visitors safe. However, the potential cost implication of outright purchasing cleaning machines can be daunting.
There is another option, though. Hiring provides an affordable and low risk opportunity to get access to high quality industrial cleaning equipment.
From our Wellingborough site, we have a wide range of Hako cleaning machines available for hire. By choosing this route your business can meet demand when it arises without being tied in to the long term commitment of an outright purchase.

It’s important for businesses to have flexibility in all areas of their operations and by hiring their cleaning machines they can achieve exactly that.
